Packing Your Living Room: TV, Sofa & Electronics

Protect Your TV and Electronics
If you still have the original box for your TV, use it — nothing fits better. Otherwise, buy a TV-specific moving box or wrap the screen in a moving blanket secured with tape (never tape directly on the screen). Unplug all cables, photograph the back of your entertainment centre, and bundle cords with zip ties in a labelled bag.
Game consoles, speakers, and streaming devices should be wrapped individually in bubble wrap and packed in a single "electronics" box. Keep this box in your car rather than the moving truck when possible.
Wrapping Sofas and Furniture
Moving blankets and stretch wrap are your sofa's best friends. Cover upholstered furniture completely to guard against dirt and scuffs — particularly important in Montreal's older walk-ups where tight hallways and staircases can scratch fabric and leather. Remove sofa legs if they unscrew and tape them together in a bag.
Books, Decor, and Small Items
Pack books spine-down in small boxes to avoid warped pages — and keep boxes under 30 lbs. Wrap decorative items like vases and candle holders individually. For shelving units, remove shelves, wrap glass components, and bag all hardware. Label each box by its destination room to speed up unloading at your new Montreal address.
