September. For many, it is the ‘real’ beginning of a new year. Rooted in our Canadian end-of-summer, back-to-school ethos, September is often a time for excitement, anticipating what lies ahead. It can also trigger melancholy as people reluctantly relinquish the end of more relaxed summer days. For me it’s both. And although I realize this is not the story for everyone, I also know I’m not the only one who feels this way.
This September in particular feels very much about change and renewal. It almost feels like I’m going to a new school. And, in a way, I guess I am.
If you’ve been following our social media posts over the past couple of months, you will know that we are scaling back our retail presence, working towards a sustainable model that continues to support people being active in nature, on their own or with their furry friends.
Some of you will also know that Sue and I recently sold our house, which was part of our downsizing plan. The second part of our plan is now to live above the Kind Living/Up and Out space. As of November 1, the live-work model we have envisioned will become our new reality. Beside the Millennium Trail, across from Couchiching Park and a stone’s throw from the lake, while just a five-minute walk to downtown, this building that has been our work space will soon double as our living space. We’re really excited about this new chapter, both professionally and personally.
I will have a lot more to say in the coming weeks about the changes to the Up and Out business model. In the meantime, we are excited to announce that we ratcheted up our Moving Sale to a Clearance Sale. September 12 and 13, we will have all Up and Out shoes and accessories on sale for 50% off as we clear inventory and space for what lies ahead.
We hope you will come in for a visit and check out some amazing deals (while they last)!
Happy Trails!
