We had a lot of fun hosting our first online contest! One lucky winner received a pair of La Sportiva trail runners. We asked you to share your favourite place to trail run and tell us why it’s your favourite! There were so many fantastic answers, we decided to do a round up of some of the entries we received so that more trail runners can enjoy them! Here we go…
Fern Resort and Local Trails
“My favourite trail is the one that sustains me daily, and it begins when I close the door behind me at home. It became a run originally to keep ahead of the mosquitoes, but now I run it because I like to.
It still starts out as a walk, to warm up and allow for getting to know the neighbours. And they are well worth getting to know:
Much like the English system of Common Land, some of them have cooperated to create a continuous trail through their properties that merges with the Fern Resort trails. It turns what would otherwise be a fast food trip down the Rama Road into a lush gourmet meal of a trail run”
Hardwood Ski and Bike
“My favourite place to run is Tuesday nights at Hardwood Hills with the Up and Out Trail group. Lots of challenges and beautiful trails!”
“This trail is my favourite because it was the first time I got to experience the pure adrenaline, focus and determination that clearly makes trail running so amazingly addictive.”
Nature’s Harmony Ecolodge
“Nature’s Harmony Ecolodge, Run off the Grid Trail Run is my favourite race! It has everything trail running can offer, Swamp, rock, creek, hills, hills, hills, even a hill with a rope the help you climb up and down.. Staff and volunteers are the best! See attached video from Live out There Magazine”
Blue Mountain Resort
“My favourite place to trail run is about a 30 minute drive from my front door, it’s @bluemtnresort. So many reasons why I love running there, but here are a few.
First off, the views! It’s awesome at the top, beautiful blue water of georgian bay. And of course I can see my hometown Wasaga Beach! Checkout the shot Thor (@thorandkato) my rottweiler husky mix got of the view with my @gopro. 2nd, it’s a love hate relationship but the climbs for sure. They can be horrible, but if you know how horrible they can be… well then they’re are probably making you a better runner 😉. Number 3, Cascade Trail. If you don’t know, go there and find out. Thank me later. And I’ll end it with how beautiful Blue actually is, and how much pride they take in keeping it that way. The trails are very well marked and groomed, with the entire hill just having a clean feeling. Of course, as long as it’s not raining.”
